GRE ID requirements in South Korea (2026)
Korean citizens can use a passport, resident registration card, driver license or military ID. ETS allows a digital national ID or driver license in the Republic of Korea, but its other Korea entry doesn't mention it, so bring the physical card. Citizens of other countries need a passport.

The checker catches what this page can't: a name that doesn't match your registration, an expiry date, or a missing supplemental ID.
Accepted
- Passport
- Citizens: resident registration card, driver license or military ID (physical card)
Not accepted
- Photocopies or scans
- Digital versions of other documents
Rules that apply everywhere
- Your first and last names must match your ETS account exactly, accents aside. A middle initial is optional.
- The ID must be valid on test day. We treat an ID that expires on the exam day itself as expired.
- Bring the physical original: no photocopies, scans or photos on your phone.
- The ID must show your name, a recent photo and your signature.
Questions
Can I use a digital ID on my phone for the GRE in Korea?
ETS's Republic of Korea entry accepts a digital national ID or driver license, but its Korea entry is silent. Bring the physical card, or confirm with ETS first.
