TOEFL iBT ID requirements in Mercosur countries (2026)
In your own country, ETS accepts a passport, national ID card, driver license or state/province ID. If you're a citizen of a Mercosur, EU, Schengen or GCC country testing in another one, your national ID card can replace your passport if it shows your name, photo, date of birth and signature. Anyone else needs a passport.
Covers: Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela.

The checker catches what this page can't: a name that doesn't match your registration, an expiry date, or a missing supplemental ID.
Accepted
- Passport
- National ID card
- Driver license (in your own country)
- State/province ID card (in your own country)
Not accepted
- Diplomatic or embassy IDs instead of a passport
Rules that apply everywhere
- Your first and last names must match your ETS account exactly, accents aside. A middle initial is optional.
- The ID must be valid on test day. We treat an ID that expires on the exam day itself as expired.
- Bring the physical original: no photocopies, scans or photos on your phone.
- The ID must show your name, a recent photo and your signature.
