About
Built by someone who worked the check-in desk
I’ve seen what happens when an ID doesn’t match the booking on test day. This site exists so it doesn’t happen to you.
I’ve worked at a test centre, and I’ve seen far too many candidates turned away on test day, after months of preparation and a paid registration fee.
Most of them weren’t doing anything wrong. They brought an ID type that isn’t accepted where they were testing, or their name didn’t quite match their booking. Some had a genuine special circumstance, like a recent name change, but didn’t tell their test provider in time.
By the morning of the test, staff usually can’t fix any of that. So I built this checker to help you catch those problems while there’s still time to fix them.
What I saw at the desk
The same few problems came up again and again. Each one is easy to fix weeks before the test, and hard or impossible to fix on the morning of it.
- The wrong kind of IDA document that’s fine for travel or banking, but not on the accepted list for that exam and country.
- A name that doesn’t matchA missing middle name, swapped name order or a typo on the booking.
- An expired documentOr one that was renewed after booking, when the exam needs the exact document on the booking.
- A change nobody reportedA name change or other special circumstance the test provider never heard about.
How the checker works
It turns each test provider’s published ID policy into simple questions, then tells you what’s fine, what’s risky and what to fix.
- Where the rules come fromThe official ID requirements published by ETS (TOEFL iBT, GRE) and the IELTS partners. Every finding links to its source.
- How current they areEach source shows the date it was last checked against the official page.
- Your privacyChecks run in your browser. Your answers aren’t sent to us or stored on a server.
- Who runs itOne person, independently. Not affiliated with or endorsed by ETS, the IELTS partners or any test provider.
